Thanks for doing this retouching assignment... i have not competed mine... but i had more fun tonight looking at the entires that did what you asked... the others were USELESS and boring to the point that they did not follow directions...

Thanks for the compliments! I haven't been here for a while, it's nice to see some more people have commented. I've recently acquired an excessive amount of free time (just moved to a new town and am looking for a new job) so hopefully I'll be able to work on some more of these challenges soon.

Thanks for the detailed explanation, Nick. I always seem to go to my favorite bag of tricks when doing retouch. This website has taught me some new ones to broaden my horizons. Can you believe I've been working in Photoshop for many years and have never used replace color? Thanks to you, I'm going to give it a try. Nice work.

I like it! Sometimes when we restore these old photos they loose that "antique" look that makes them so special to begin with. You brought back all the missing detail without over doing it. (Just like my old Fine Art professor used to say, "Sometimes less is more!"
