I used a total of ten layers while colorizing this photo. I tried to pay particular attention to the subject's eyes by accenting each iris from the pupil outward with a tri-color effect. In addition I attempted to draw some attention to the eyelashes, lids, cheek bone, and jaw-line, by painting shadows essentially, in the hopes of bringing out the contours of his face. He also looked a bit nervous so I chose to use more shades of pink on his skin.
The uniform took the most time because of it's pattern. First I made a selection of the shirt and painted it a fairer shade of olive green. Then I painted each dark and medium shaded spot on the shirt. The layers were then set to Hue. I played with the percentages until it looked realistic. The zipper, eyehole, and snap-button layers were set to Luminance as was the pin on the hat. Finally, I did a quick Color Adjustment, RGB, and Brightness/Contrast because the photo looked quite dark and/or drab.

You did great coloring him especially the uniform camoflage colors. The skin tones seem a bit off but over all an excellent job.
