Well, it is rather apparent that I'm a roadrunner fan. Anyhow, no rocket science on technique. Basically I just took a picture of a country road, added a speed limit sign and tried to make it look like a painting on a wall. The skid marks were a bit difficult to come by.

Nevertheless, here's the description of what I remember (thanks to Mig raising a valid point):

Duplicated the image and ran levels to bring more detail to the wall.

Took a photograph of a country road and added a sign from Hemera objects. Added a shadow for effect.

Selected an area of the wall and made an arch and erased that area.

Used the lasso tool in conjuction with the alt key and made an edge to give the wall some depth. Painted in the color while it was selected.

Sized the picture to match the archway.

Used the retangle selection tool and selected the bottom of the wall and made a paved area. Adjusted color so it didn't quite match the road scene. then I added a small masonary line on the bottom to slightly separate the two.

Copied the wall to another layer above the road scene and changed blend mode to darken, adjusted the opacity accordingly.

Moved the skid marks to the center of the archway.

Flattened all layers

Better late than never

Very trompey

The skid marks were the first thing I noticed. Good detail.

I certainly didn't have you specifically in mind about the descriptions thing. I think you know that tho. However, I appreciate the effort you put into edit yours.
The picture itself is beautiful and startling. It would be interesting to see a version of this with a big friggin crash and burn mark on the wall left from the drunk who mistook the mural for a way home
Nice one all around.

Love that speed limit 70 sign. Boy that would not be fun to drive down that road. Talk about stopping on a dime. That really looks great and I think it was well done.
