1) Adj layer - levels - (47 / 1.45 / 188)

2) The big patch to the right of the guy scared me so I cropped it down

3) I decided to tackle the landon first and I went at him with the patch tool and clone brush to remove as much of the blemish from his tshirt as possible - fortunately the t-shirt looked pretty uniform and there didn't seem to be much detail on it - which was nice.

4) The right arm of the t-shirt started to look like a block of colour - so I added a new layer - painted in some black shadow at 10% flow and then made the layer Soft Light and 16% opacity - to enhance the shadow in under his armpit.

5) Then back to the healing brush!

6) I copied a chunk out of his neck, pasted into a new layer and then erased it with a feathered eraser until it looked like a round neck - I also took the brightness down a little to make it look a bit more realistic - to finish I dabbed it with a healing brush from a darker part of his neck

7) I used the same trick for the t-shirt - it took 2 samples - I merged the layers together and then blured it a little and added shadow round the neckline where the extra material was. I hit a bit of a snag here - b/c I wanted to use the clone brush to work the shadow on the neckline - but it was on a different layer - so I copied the bit I wanted to clone from into the shadow layer and then cloned it and deleted it once I was done (ok - if you work with photoshop everyday then that probably doesn't sound like genius - but I was quite impressed with myself)

7a) I also copied the tshirt layer - added some noise (2%) knocked the layer down 20% opacity and merged down to try and make the t-shirt more real

8) Landon looked a little chubby so I used the liquify filter in PS7 to tuck in his right side - it also made the t-shirt look a little less flat - as by now I was looking at it and it bothered me

9) I got bored of Landon so I moved onto the background for a bit and through judicious use of the clone and healing brish managed to get rid of most of the pink blotches from the shelves to Landons left and the biggest of the white scratches

10) At this point I flattened my image and started to look at the guy on the right - the stripes were a bit of a problem - so but I used the same technique - and drew on the creases with a feathered brush on 10% flow and 40% opacity

11) I couldn't work out what was supposed to be behind the other guy - but since there was only a tiny bit showing after I had cropped it to oblivion - I cut out a section of the background on the left and but it on a layer behind the image and erased al the pink stuff from under his armpit.

12) I used a pretty similair technique for landons arm - I cut out a chunk of background - placed it behind the arm - clone brushed in his arm and deleted the rest of the pink blotch and then painted in some shadow

13) By now I had made Michael Landon look like he has breasts - and couldn't really work out a way to fix it - but I had come a long way - so I used an unsharp mask to try and bring out their faces, and then I used a quick mask to draw round them - feathered the quick mask with a guasian blur (45pt) and then I inverted the selection and used another guasian blur (2pt) and blured the rest of the picture to bring them out of the foreground

14) As a last touch there was a flash glare on one of the shelves above Landon so I added some 35mm lens glare at 95 brightness

15) There we go - that was a good one - I must admit I didn't read the whole brief at first and I spent the first 20 mins thinking that I was working on a woman - until I re-read it and discovered it was a Landon - well thats what you get for having a curly perm!

Turned out pretty nice. You got rid of most of the flaws, and now you can make out their faces better. Might be a good idea to get rid of more grain if you could.
