Checked out the channels, found that the red channel looked the best. Created a grayscale image.
Re-colored by sections...
dress/suit/tie/skin/background.
I'm not doing somehthing right though, as I "Save for Web" before I upload here to RetouchPro. My uploaded document is very different in colors...(example: blue background vs an almost violet after saving).
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
Anyhow, this looks much better on my original fixed picture. Back to the books/reading to find out where I'm doing things wrong.

Hmmm...that's odd. I have noticed some loss of color saturation when I save to web...don't know why that happens either, so I just adjust the picture accordingly for the web. This one does seem to be off a bit, especially since the skin looks whitish. If I were you, I'd play with the colors again, or else don't use "save for web" and see if the skintones improve. And perhaps try using the blue channel instead of the red channel, since the blue one has the shadow detail in the clothing and on the faces.

Great job on all but the washed out skin tones, First off, let me say this challenge was a lot harder than I expected. When I first seen it,
I thought...piece of cake, just a simple color correction. To simplify things...I was wrong!!
Let me aplogize up front, I didn't keep close track of my work this time.
I first tried levels and curves, setting white, black and gray points. This worked to some
degree, but not entirely. I decided that I wouldn't be able to apply anything globally to
this one. So basically I used hue and saturation adjustment layers along with layer masks
to correct specific areas. There was some hand painting, lips, eg.
All the stains were removed with the patch tool and a little cloning. I cropped the photo
down to where the purple was intruding into the image and then recreated the white border.
I used Alien Skin Splat to give back the border a little texture.
Next I ran dust and scratches at a very low level, as the dust was minimal and then resized,
sharpened a little and saved.
Kenthat you already know about.
