This was my first 'challenge' and it certainly was, but a lot of fun! See if I can remember half of what I did. Reduced the contrast -25 and I could see some of the 'shadowy' features. Then I spent a fair amount of time 'clone- stamping' to get rid of the spots and even out the background some. I blurred the outline by selecting the elliptical marquee, inverse with about 50% feathering, deleting the outer edges and adding a solid white back later. I converted to bw with a plug-in (Color Efex). I tried the 'dust and scratches' as some suggested but still couldn't get rid of the 'spackled' look, so I brushed over it with a light blur and that seemed to work a little better. I think I could have spent a lot more time on it, but guess you have to stop somewhere. Still not happy with the skin tone and hair (kinda' has a plastic look). Thanks all!

First challenge you say! Wow, great job! I hope to see a lot more of your work!
The low contrast helps hide the spots...good idea. The only thing I noticed that looks unnatural is the straight angular edge on her cheek shadow.

How you did her lips is how I was hoping I would fix them, but didn't. Very nice.
