Again I opted for the natural approach, trying to to alter the original look of the print and not introducing anything that wasn't there originally.
I corrected the colors "by the numbers", finding the black and white points using a Threshold adjustment layer, marking the two points, then throwing away the Threshold layer. A Curves layer and in that I set the black, white points, and finally I used the eye-dropper to find a 50% gray area and set that as the middle gray. I then copied the corrected layer a few times blending it in Multiply mode, masking out everything but her face and a few other things that needed some added density. Cloned out the artifacts, adjusted the contrast and sharpened it just a tad! What a cute kid!
