You guys know me, I keep trying. Vijayan said it looks like a painting, so I went back to the drawing boards and I also changed the facial color.

I never mean that your work is not good. It gives the feeling of watching a painting.
Now it is an another one with real expression in sober colours.
Work with selection mode - colour overlay - will help you to bring some real colours.

Vjiann / I knew what you meant. I used the colors because back then they didint have vibrant colors, they used milk and blood to make colors, so I tried to keep within the time period. BUt I agreed with you it looked like I painted her face. I am learning to recolor using brushes rather then fill mode, its more fun.
Ok now you said selection mode and color overlay, what program are you working in. I cant find it in Photoshop.

I think all this photo needs is a little warming up phili. Give her some skin tone and color her animal skin dress an animal skin color. It also might be helpful if you do some research on the tlkuit (sp?) indians. I found out they used alot of GLASS beads as well as seashells and various metals.
There is nothing wrong with your technique, keep doing what youre doing...there are about 100 different ways to colorize a photo so find what youre most comfortable with and enjoy!
this is upposed to be fun and relaxing,ok?

IMHO I really like the feel. You have created a 'hand painted old photograph' of the period. Coming from the other side of the world I would have no idea what the orignal colours would be. So all I can say is "Well done"
