themanda Senior Member Registered: December 2002 Location: Texas Posts: 135 users gallery	What a great challenge! First, I went online and researched O'Keefe's paintings. I wanted a specific example to try to duplicate. I chose "Single Lily with Red" as my inspiration. From that point forward, I isolated the lily from the background and placed on a new layer. Added a gradient fill layer of the red. On a separate layer I painted in the large green leaf. Diffused it, smudged it a bit and finally added a bit of noise. Used the smudge tool on the lily to make it look a little more painterly. That's basically it. No real technique used other than the smudge tool.

It is beautiful, and "Okeefe-ish". Your technique is there, and it is MORE than "the smudge tool". It is your eye, your hand, your artistic spirit...

I don’t know much about artists or painting but I do know what is pleasing to my eye
And this is very pleasing! I’d rather look at yours than the original.
