I simplified it first with median, then shaded with burn tool. Separated flower, repeated flower on black background, making larger and rotating while changing colors a bit, then added orange gradient. Brushed lightly with smudge tool and spatter brush to get a hint of brushstrokes, then sharpened with KPT6 equalizer to bring back some roughness/texture.

O'Keeffe did do a lot of stuff like this. The lily in the front looks a little stark... it might have helped to add a a slight drop shadow behind it to make it a little darker... otherwise excellent.

Phyliss what can I say but you out did yourself, super job. I think she was stark in what she did at least what I saw of her work.
