I like the brushwork, and the tones. Nice work.

I like this a lot! I think that you picked a nice color palate to enhance the lily. Good choice.

Wow that back ground just pops the flower!
The brush strokes look great.

Thanks all, since this one seems to fit spec and shouldn't get deleted, I'll re-explain what I did to achieve the effect.
In Painter 2, with a Wacom tablet, I created a new layer above the flower and used the BRUSH in OPAQUE ROUND mode to paint in the tonalities of the flower. I kept this layer slightly transparent to allow the detail of the underlying photo to enhance the detail.
This process was a lot of trial and error, and I started over quite a few times and even gave up at one point, only to be re-inspired by some of the stuff other people were doing.
Once I was happy with the look of the flower, I brought it into Photoshop 7 to extract it from the background. I used the EXTRACT filter which does a great job of keeping all those fine brush strokes.
I went back to Painter and in a new document I created a background. Originally I did deep shades of green, blue, black and yellow, though it was predominately green. I used the IMPASTO tool.
I brought that into Photoshop and placed it behind the flower. The colors weren't working for me, so I used the GRADIENT MAP to re-adjust to those golden tones.

Really nice work, and the background says it all! It really makes the subject of the composition come forward.
