Hello, everyone...I'm new to the group and really inspired by everyone's work and good tips on restortion work etc. I thought I'd tackle the baby photo first as I want to test out different methods in both PS and PSP....this was done in the Beta 8 version of PSP.

I decided to get rid of the oval and the person in the background for this one. First I worked on cleaning up baby's face by using 'darken, lighten' on the spots... lassoed around the body parts and added a new layer...sprayed lightly in here with a very pale flesh colour...applied gaussian blur and then lowered the opacity...when I was happy with the result, merged visible both layers...then added highlights and shadows to give the features more depth. Next I worked on the lace, though there is lots of room for improvement on this, I am still happy with my first attempt. What I did was to use the lighten brush to clean those ugly dark areas and then darkened the shadow areas a little...I selected the dress and applied another layer...filled with white...added a noise of 15 and then lowered the opacity until it cleaned up the dress but still allowed detail to show through...I am looking forward to trying this again, using some of the other contributors methods. I used the auto tools...saturation, contrast etc...plus a few other things that I am forgetting at the moment....I didn't write them down while I was doing this...too busy concentrating on that lace. :o) Thanks for having me here.

cheers

Lovely work Opal and great work on that lace, great detail showing up. You didn't end up with the same white splash I did on mines on part of the robe! Fun to do wasn't it?

I like the overall color you choose for this. Thank you for the list of what you did. Very nice job on this. Hope to see more of your work.
