I pulled a bit of a swifty on this one.

First I colour corrected by adding a threshold adjustment layers and finding the true black and white points in the photo. Then discarding that layer I added a curves adjustment layer. That got rid of the green tinge that was so evident.

Then I ran a high pass filter at around 3-10 and set the blend mode to hard light (although the linear light technique mentioned by some1 else in this challenge entrigued me, it didnt seem to produce the effect I needed)

Here comes the silly bit:

No matter what I did to this photo I could not get rid of the 'halo', so in the end I decided to employ a little trickery.

I cut around the main petal shapes with the pen tool, this gives a hyper real sensation and makes the flowers jump from the page. I had to then blur some of the further back flower heads, to give the impression of depth of field.

I could have concentrated more on the depth of field but after 34 channels of petals, I was fair broken by the experience.

Anyway been away from RetouchPro for far too long (work as always) so it was good to touch my toe back into the water.

Cheers for the positive comments. I realise I cheated a bit, but I was at a loss at what else to do.

I don't quite understand how that's cheating...I mean, it looks to me like you've just slammed the challenge home! It's a fantastic entry. I honestly appreciate the chance to view it. :-)

I like how you cheat!

Great work... it doesn't matter how one gets the job done.

Sharpest and best I've seen; wouldn't want to be you while you were doing all of this though; too bad there doesn't exist a decent deblurring tool.

This is the best of the group that I've seen. Keep up the good work!
