First I did selections for the areas where having stains and applied Hue/Saturation and got the picture in a uniform level of monochrome background.
Re typed the all typed text and did tracing for the calligraphic texts.
All about more than forty layers, which merged together and copied in to a fresh background. For the background applied solid colour and adjusted opacity. Then did filter> add noise and applied gaussian blur also...

It was very defficult to match with the fonts, but allmost I could manage it..

i am using MacX.
The main title in caps - Apple Myungio - Regular.
All the text in italic are - Times New Roman.

Wow - that's *extremely* impressive. The only possible improvement would be if you could have reconstructed the missing text for the date in November that the birth was registered - my guess from the original would be twenty-seventh, but one could always get a new certified copy in order to check. Or maybe that would be swaying too far towards reconstruction rather than restoration...

Anyway, really really great work, vijayan.

Now the genealogist in me is itching to know why they were getting a copy of Ann's birth certificate in 1865 - I wonder what they needed it for?
