1. Adjusted levels, contrast and brightness, and colour balance.
2. Cloned, blurred, dodged, and airbrushed the damaged parts and tried to restore her facial features.
3. Sharpened by creating duplicate layer, unsharp masking the original and noise-median on the duplicate.
4. Used new layers to select and darken the shadow areas using pen, path and paint bucket tools and turned opacity down to 5 to 25 percent.
5. Selected face and hair with pen and path and sharpened again.
6. Adjusted saturation down
7. Cleaned up and straightened the border.
