I'm a bit nervous, this is my first post here. I hope you like it.

I used the pen tool to cut the lily out from the background.
I then cut the lily into 7 pieces (6 pedals and the sprouty thing in the middle) again using the pen tool.
I desaturated each of the 7 pieces and then used despeckle on each layer.
I locked the transparent pixles and then did a gaussian blur, thus making the highlights and shadows a fairly smooth transition. Then I adjusted the levels to enhance the dark and light and to add a bit of contrast.
I inverted each part and adjusted the curves.
I readded colour using the Hue/Saturation, and adjusted the colour using Colour Balance.
I then added some noise to match the original picture.
To blend the lily I made a selection of the flower, inverted, and expended the selection and did a gaussian blur. The side effect of which is a fairly slight glow around the lily.
I desaturated and lightend the background to add a bit of contrast and to blend at the same time.
