Steps of an insecure beginner:
1- Started off with healing tool to clear a small area of the man's face.
2- Use the patch tool with the area that i've cleared earlier.
3- Half way through this process, i decided to convert the image to grayscale.
4- Continued applying healing and patch tools in his face.
5- When i got to the jacket, i remembered a very useful tip from RetouchPro: "Always check your channels".
So i did that hoping that one channel could me some work. If you remember, what i didn't at the time, in
the step 3 i converted the image to grayscale, which left me with only one channel. Not very useful ...
6- Used Stamp tool in the man's jacket.
7- When i finished the guy, i decided to do something about his background. I've applied a technique
called "3 Ways to a professional studio background" (i found it somewhere in the retouchpro forums) and
then put that black border around.
Hair, Ear and Eye:

For some reason my girlfriend insisted that the guy was blond, or ginger. If that picture was a job, i'd
probably have asked this question to the person who brought the picture in, but in that case i decided to
do the guy with black hair.
1- Erased the background
2- Used a brush that comes with PS that looks like a small bush and painted his hair with that.
For the damaged ear i used a copy of the other one. Probably this why God gives you two ...
I did the same with the eye.
I'm happy with this restoration because it was my first one. I had problems with the skin tone and left
some bad smudge marks... the hair could be better and also the lightness in his face.

Great description. This one was so difficult that I have to say you did an amazing job with it. Real nice.
