Just a quick attempt at this - will try a more realistic one later on. I used Corel Photopaint for this.
The first thing I did was clone out the major defects of the image. I then duplicated this layer and ran a smart blur at a setting of 50 on it. I then went back to my previous layer and duped it again and applied a clipmask (layer mask) to it. I then painted on the clipmask with a 50% black on the skin, 30% black on the hair, 20% black on the eyes and dress, and 100% black on the sky.
I then flattened this and opened it up in a new file and ran an auto adjust on it.
The rest I approached like a standard recolorization. I masked off the lips, skin, eyes, hair, and dress and created new objects (layers) for them all and applied clipmasks to them all. Then it was just a matter of playing with colors for each item and then erasing out the bits from the clipmasks that were not needed.
I also created a blank layer to apply some eyeshadow/rouge color to the skin and did a merge mode of Color on this layer and set it at an 80% transparency, too.
I'm not too happy with the hair/eyebrows, but will redo this later with an attempt for realistic hair.

Thanks, Christine and TwinB I'm working on a re-do of this. I want a better skin texture and actually do something with the hair hehe
