This restoration has taught me that a document restoration can be just as challenging as a damaged photograph restoration.

1. Started out by selecting each handwritten section and copying to it's own layer.
2. Cleaned up the handwritten sections by a combination of selections, erasing unclean areas around the text, and painting in detail on weak areas.
3. Used the type tool to create all typed sections using a variety of font sizes and styles; Times New Roman and Bookman Old Style fonts.
3. Painted in all horizontal and vertical lines using guides.
4. Created a new background by doing a color sample on a clean area of document, filling in a new layer with this color, adding noise, and a slight wind filter.
5. The hardest part was making out some of the typewritten text that was obscured or missing.

The certifying Surgeon of the District would be none the wiser. Well done Alan!

Thank you Vijayan:

It was your restoration that inspired me to take it on in the first place. I thought you did a tremendous job on such a damaged documement.

Unbelievable. This applies to all three restorations.

István:

Thank you for the compliment. I am glad my restoration has given you inspiration, it was a restoration I saw a few years back (Dog Days) that first gave me inspiration.
