After several false starts I finally decided to replace the red channel with the green channel. After doing this I adjusted the color the best I could using Hue/Saturation/Lightness. I followed this with Auto Levels. All of this left me with a picture without the overall red cast, pretty decent contrast, but terrible skin color. At this point, I decided to colorize.
Before proceeding with any coloration I cleaned up the image using the Healing Brush and the Cloning tool. I then selected the right side of the man's shirt and put it on a new layer. Using Hue/Saturation/Lightness once again, I got as close a match as I could between the left and right sides of the shirt. I then blended the two sides together by applying a layer mask and blending the edges. I flattened the layers and began to over paint the shirt and skin tones on a layer with the blending mode set to color. When this was done, I switched from PS7 to PSP 7 and applied the clarify filter followed by the smooth filter to eliminate some of the noise. Switching back to PS7, I smoothed out the background using the clone tool, tweaked the contrast a bit and resized for the web.

Overall, a very nice clean up and probably the only way you could attack this one. Not bad, since I think discolorations are nasty to deal with. The only suggestion I would add is to add a radial gradient or something to the background so it's not so plain. It would give depth to the image and blend better with them. Very good job.

Good repair job, but color looks a bit flat. Perhaps use of some additional colors on skin? Maybe some pinks or reds. Background is a total mismatch. His left hand seems to be glowing Some blurry bits in details, as well.

A great job, your colours are a good choice considering there were no originals and any minor faults are to be expected by even the best on a photo like this
