This was a difficult and uninteresting challenge in that there was little detail in the faces.
I duplicated the image and used the clone stamp and healing brush to clean up some of the cracks and artifacts from the downlowded picture. (I can't get good downloads!)
this is the second try. The first one I did in black and white but I thought that I lost detail when I went to black and white so I worked on this one in color and changed to black and white when I was finished. Then i added some color back in.
Once I had it cleaned up somewhat I selected the woman into another layer and moved her closer to the man to improve the composition. then I cloned and blured the outline of the cutout. Next I used the burn tool to darken the features. Then I selected the background into its own layer and used the Glaussen blur to fuzz it out somewhat.
I then went to black and white and then added my own sepia color. Then I added some noise to give and overall texture or feel to the image.
I'm not satisfied with it but I have to stop for now.

Always good to stop before overdoing it. I actually think it's better to under restore than over restore and image because the more you do the more of the original image is lost. I really like how you cropped this image. Real nice.
