I'm normally manipulating - hopefully I have posted this correctly. Copy Layer Adjusted Levels Soft light Merge (Did this a couple times to get a nice contrast) Desaturated Toned back to make uniform color. Cloned left ear to create right. Cloned right side under nose to cover mark on left. Lots of healing brush and clone. Cleaned up background and added texture.

Wow, I really like the detail and shading you have achieved in the face. Great work overall.
When you say "toned back to make uniform color" - could you explain how you did that?

Guess that was confusing since he's wearing a uniform...lol! I desaturated the whole picture to greyscale so that the different reddish, yellowish, and brown colors would be the same. I then went into hue/saturation and toned the whole picture back to the sepia tone.

Oh.. that makes perfect sense. Nicely done too! To me, the sepia colour looks just right for matching the original.

Very cool, Sarah. You popped him right out of his drab old background! How did you preserve the detail around his ears? Or did you redraw 'em?

I did a bit of airbrushing/dodge/burn and I copied the left and pasted it in for the right making sure to note that his left ear was pinned a little closer to the head.
