ajcutler Member Registered: August 2003 Location: Potomac, Maryland Posts: 77 users gallery	Thought this would be a fun picture to restore, so I had a go at it. This is what I did: 1. Discarded the red and green channels and kept the blue channel which looked the best overall. 2. Added a levels layer to open up the tonal range. 3. Cleaned up the building with a combination of cloning and adjustment of brightness and contrast. 4. Used cloning to remove spots from faces and the building 5. Created a merged layer and applied a gaussian blur with a layer mask "hide all", and painted in smoothness to selected areas of the faces. 6. Created a merged layer and applied a unsharp mask with a layer mask "hide all", and painted in sharpness to selected areas of the faces. 7. By selecting and copying some faces to their own layers and using blending modes of either soft light or overlay (and varying opacity), tried to get all the faces to be similar in tone and contrast to each other. 8. Converted to RGB and added a color blending layer for toning. Alan

very good work and an impressive result indeed, like it!
I just cannot exactly decide which I like most - the result of Doug Colwell or this one... hmmmm

Amazing detail in the faces! Great tonal range and clean as a whistle. (Mark, I suspect Alan cheated and had this done at Walgreens).

great Job!

You balanced lights and shadows in the top and bottom parts of the picture very well!
A very nice and natural restoration ... I love it!
