Used clone and pattern brush to remove horse from reigns... Used fiber filter (Photoshop CS) to recreate hair texture.
Selected backdrop image... (from popular photography's digital wizard contest). Adjusted levels in horse layer and BG layer to bring out equal contrast.
Scaled the horse to feel more integrated into the scene. Created a mask on the horse layer to "bury" the horses feet in the snow. Created a shadow by blurring a line beneath the horse. Deleted parts of shadow line with texture brush, to match the texture and light properties of snow.
