Used clone tool to fix faces, and scratches all over, borrowed some facial features for missing ones.
Added a layer for the sky to clean it up. Added some clouds
Had to paint in dads eyes
For the little girl that was washed out, I tried to find the outline of her face and define the hair and neck. Drew in features on her face. Then darkened her face just a bit.
Mostly cloned the roof to fix bad spots
The boy on the end-I tried to define his edges with the clone and darken tool.
Brought out his eyes with the darken tool borrowed a mouth.
More cloning and healing brush - forever!
Then I flattened it, made it greyscale.
Made it RGB and added an overlay layer to give it the sepia tone.

Excellent work on a very difficult restoration.

Outstanding restoration, the faces have been done very well indeed. There is a slight repetition of pattern on the LHS of the roof but this does not detract from an excellent piece of work.

Has a wonderful old look to it LilDebi,

The faces and the house are superbly restored.
Agree with you about the massive clone and healing operation.
Great work.

Thank you all. I really appreciate your comments. Nice start to a Friday! I have always love anatomy and portraits and really enjoyed the challenge of these obliterated faces!

Great faces, roof and sky (clouds are a nice touch). I really like how you salvaged the textures in the wood, fabric and ground.

Really great work at retrieving the detail!

I was going to give this challenge a try, but I'm sure I couldn't do any better than this one.
