I had originally thought to just create a new layer that was black/white and use that as the basis of a clipmask (PS users, clipmask=layermask) so I could isolate the statue. But that being 1-bit, it was jaggies galore!
So, I created a new blank layer and used Photopaint's Texture Fill of Clouds:Midday from the Samples texture library to create the sky/clouds.
I then went back to the mermaid and did a rough mask around the entire thing. I then created a new object from this mask. I added a clipmask to this so I could erase all the original sky bits.
Once I was done, I felt the statue was a bit too dull against a midday sky, so I took the "leaves" and the body of the sculpture and created two new objects. I then applied PhotoLab's CSI Photofilter to them to recolor them. I used Brushed Copper for the body of the statue and Copper Sulfate for the leaves of the statue. I then did more clipmasking of these objects to erase other colors.
The hair was a PITA. With all the clipmasking I was doing, it was fading some of them out, so I went back over some strands with black to bring the hair back.

Thanks, CV  I felt I needed to do something to give it some punch because once I added the brighter sky, the sculpture just looked so flat.
