Okay, I've learned a few things with that one. First, the selection was a challenge. After the fact I saw that other participants found a more intelligent than the straight forward way. Well, next time. Second, as a (hobby) photographer I know that light makes a picture a good or a bad one. What I didn't know is that inserting additional light sources can be that difficult.
- masked the ship with the blue channel and the threshold layer
- fine tuning of the mask was done by hand (yuk!)
- inserted the background using the mask
- used the rendering/spot filter twice on a copy of the original
- inserted the downscaled lamp on a seperate layer
- simulated the light with a luminance layer
- used selective colours to fine tune the light
Best regards,
Martin
P.S. Err... did I understand the challenge right..? I mean the sky looks realistic... to me at least... ;-)

Reminds me of Pirates of the Caribbean. Very moody and evocative.

Yes, and as my wife said, it got a comic-like look. Thanks for stopping by.

P.S. Meanwhile I found how to edit the description... ;-)

Hi, I like it because it has a fantasy look to it. I like too the mistiness near the light on the hull of the ship as well as the color of the sky.
