Separated the pear and apple(s) onto their own layers and removed backgrounds.
Arranged and used transform to size and turn fruit to a different positioning. Tried drop shadow but didn't like the way it turned out so copied the fruits and filled them with black, blurred, and dropped layer transparency (the old-fashioned drop shadow method!). Distorted shadows to lower left.
Ran SPLAT! resurface filter on fruit, then ran Dry Brush filter on them, using different settings for pear than for apple.
Grabbed a satin sheet web page background I had and distorted it to fit. Erased top edges with hard-edged brush to make it non-square and look more like rumpled cloth.
Grabbed some color from the original fruit and made a solid background, then played with hue/sat until I got something I liked. Ran SPLAT! resurface texture and then transformed to widen the effect. Ran Pinch and Spherize (horizontal) to further change the background. Ran Dry Brush filter set to highest settings. Ran Lighting effects and used the red channel with white as high to get some texture and depth, as well as enhance the fact that the light is coming from the right. Ran levels until it looked more like a wall to me.
Ran Texturizer Sandstone on "tablecloth". Ran it again on "wall" and fruit, different settings..
Flattened image and ran Sandstone again. Darkened slightly with levels.

Very nice look on the skin of the fruit. Adding cloth was inspired. Best thing is the single slice, beautiful by itself. Bg a bit busy and photographic (looks almost like double-exposure)

It's not really a Ce'zanne but it's so unique, I actually like it better. Wow, that is really a cool effect. Have to remember that one.
