To me this was a wonderful old photo from the 1920s.
I wondered what it would look like colored.
But there was a problem, it looked so very small at 600 wide.
Upsizing old photo’s is rarely a good idea.
When I upsized my restoration I took the expected hit in loss of sharpness.
I decided to sharpen before coloring to avoid fringing.
I sharpened using the high pass filter and overlay blending method.
Then it was a big repair, select and color job.
The faces were tough going at this size.
I was never going to get the sharpness of a smaller version.
I was also worried about getting a good white color on the goat.
I think I’ve got him looking a bit like a Christmas tree.
I took a lot of time doing this one but I enjoyed working on it.
