I wasn’t going to do this one. Too hard! But other members were doing a good job on it. I had to try it.

There was just so little facial detail to work with.
Multiply and other methods can’t bring out detail that just isn’t there.

I straightened the photo slightly to the right.

Eyes – The left eye was in bad shape but the right was awful.
I copied the left eye. Pasted and flipped it to replace the right.

Nose – The nostril area was just a guess. Not enough detail.

Mouth – As above.

I tried to even out skin tones and add definition to features.
Too much and she starts to look different to the original.
Too little she looks a blurred mess. You can’t win.

Best wishes to all who did this hard restoration.
Matt

Sorry Doug and Steve, I deleted your comments when I made a change.

Doug - Flipping her eye and tilting her head did change her appearance.
But the badly damaged eye made her look a little weird.
I feel the new eye improved her appearance. Even if slightly different.

Steve - You dead right. She has a flat brown look to her face.
It shows you should never submit at mid-night when you are tired and miss things. It bugs me so much I’m lightening her face and re-submitting.

Tough is the right word for this. Thanks for your efforts. Interesting how each of us approach the problem and solve the flaws. Good work.

Thanks Janet, Vijayan and Phillip,

The original was badly damaged and lacking fine detail.
For me it was a battle to get a half way acceptable restoration.

I wasn't happy with my work here.
I over-restored in the facial area.
I made her better looking.
But lost the true facial features in the original.
Thanks for the comments Chanchalbd.
It's good to hear from other members.
