Basically, I did a mask to get the fruit. Then replicated the peach and the pear several times, creating a grouping of the fruit. I then used the Chalk Art History brush in PS7 to give the fruit a painted/chalked look.

Next I constructed my "lame" looking table and cover in a new image, then brought in the fruit layer and sized it.

Finally, I went around and did some shadow work with a soft brush.

Nicely done, table and cover included! The one part that bothers me is the little white mark on top of the front left pear's stem. Other than that, great job creating the still life painting.

This is such a cool technique and I like the table cloth. Really looks beautiful. One thing you might do is anchor that fruit slice to the table with a shadow. It looks like it's floating. And that's really looking for a nit pick. I do love the deep shadows and highlights. It really makes the fruit stand out.

You've got the art part down pretty well. I really like to look of it overall, and especially the table and the front part of the cover. Attention to the details, the icing on the cake, would be my next suggestion for you, because with just a little extra work (like the drop shadow already mentioned and a little more work on the back part of the cloth) your art could stand with any of the best.
