This was truly a challenge. I don't think I will ever be really happy with my results, so it is time to just let it be.

I have been working on this for a couple of weeks, and lost my notes...so as memory serves:

Selected face, saturation AL with mask.

Multiplied effect and backed off on opacity.

Copied the right eye to the left but didn't flip it, copied and flipped the right side of the dress to the damaged left side

A LOT of cloning, smudging and air brushing to try and recover the skin texture.

Some painting in of details of the eyes, mouth and hair.

Masked AL to lighten the background for better contrast.

Getting the skin to not look plastic yet a bit smoothed is a huge challenge, and I'm still not sure how to accomplish that feat!

I think you did a petty good job. Miracles are hard to come by when a photo is as badly aged as this one yet you accompished a lot without making her look unreal. Kudos.

Thanks for the kind words. I might try this one again when I have the time and patience to devote to it. I really wanted to do the picture justice but just don't have the skills...yet! Thanks again!

Nice, soft pastel look, and you've retained her facial features very well.
