Iterative periodic noise removal. Many Layers at different degrees of median & blur. Then hand erasing of top layers until noise gone. Hand retouching afterwards.

Smooooth! Excellent restore and great match to original sepia. Great work on facial features and ears. Probably just a compression artifact but the darker tone gradations have that topographical map look.

Thanks! I appreciate your comments. I worked on the image in 16 bits, so any posterization in the shadow areas could be due to compression or even a mistake, I'll have a look.
However, there are a few more details I could have retouched, the buttons and his left shoulder for example are not 100% smooth (Some people might not like the noiseless look, but noise can always be added back later. I prefer the smooth look however
It also needs some work on removing the fading and paper wrinkles on the lower part, but I wanted to show just how much can be recovered through the noise to achieve the softness characteristic of vintage photographs.
