I used several techniques with this photo. One was the new digital noise filter with the Beta Version of PSP 9. I hand colored it in Photoshop using the color blend mode. I used a technique I found at the Light's Right .com to gently burn the color to give it more depth.

An authentic looking period hand tint. Really good clean-up - colouring and shadow work looks great. Like your hat band too. Maybe a couple of creases on the face (above lip on left) could be smoothed, but I like the semi-rough texture - suggests an adult face rather than a boy's. Very nice restoration.

Nice work, I like the idea of burning colours, it certainly does give it more depth.
You have some interesting colouring ideas too. As Doug says, Very nice.
