Matt, I have to say you have really done a fantastic job here. I've got to start again on my effort now!!!! I really like the way you fixed the curtains and the way you put the shadowing on the skirting board behind the dog on the right. How you knew that rug was a beige colour I just don't know! I spoke with my wifes gran and she told me I got it completely wrong!! The only thing you got slightly wrong is the shading on the spaniel......apparently it's a lighter brown! Who knew eh?
I must admit I painted the dogs eyes too. Can you email me with a better description of just how you did this (if you can remember!)? Did you use PS or PSP?
Cheers
Tim
P.S. "Awesome" isn't a stong enough word

Very well done, Matt-I think the colors you chose (carpet, fabric) are accurate for the time period the photo was taken

Cool work, if I wouldn't knew better, I'd fall for it, believing it's an original!

Thanks Steve, Timbo, Phillip and Marc for the comments.
Timbo – About the spaniel’s eyes.
I have a book on dog breeds and scanned a spaniel.
Using Photoshop I copied and pasted a good eye to the restoration.
Then I used Free Transform to position and size the new eye.
Flipped it and used it for the other eye. Then burning to make them blend.
Steve – I had to put my Turkey back in the oven and cook it longer.
I wanted to get rid of that drab color I had on the spaniel.
Hopefully this lighter golden color is closer to his real color.

Lovely job with the coloring! Super job bringing out the details of the dogs, especially around the faces. Great work!

Matt, you've nailed it. Superb.
The eyes............good idea, I should have thought of that, I just painted mine in.
Well it's all a big learning curve.

This is also wonderful work. I appreciate all the comments and will be studying how you all approached this restoration because I really wouldn't have had much of a clue how to even begin...thank you.
