I tried this challenge primarily because I wanted to try out a couple of new techniques I learned here at RTP! Plus, who can resist such a cutie?
I made a copy of the hand on the left and moved and tranformed it to fit on the right. I cloned to make it fit in.
I made a grayscale version of the picture by using Calculations, with the Green channel over the Red channel, blending mode Multiply, opacity 50%. I selected New Channel, then copied the new channel using select all/copy, then switching back to the composite view and select all/paste into. This created a new layer with the b&w image.
On the color version I used a curves AL to correct the saturation and overall color.
I then applied a layer mask to the b&w layer and masked the face and hands to reveal the color beneath.
I used a layer mask to make the vignette by adding a layer mask and blurring it. Nice to be able to see the effect before you crop!
This was a lot of fun to work on, and I have enjoyed seeing everyone's version!

This version of yours looks very professional and high quallity. Very nice interpretation, one that could be blown up to a larger size and hung on the wall.

Thanks Janet! I am thinking about digging up some of my kid's baby pics and seeing if this would work with them. It was such a simple process I need to remember what I did!

Fine work FrannyMae,
Good work on the hand. I like the de-saturation,
vignette and plain black frame.
