Most of the work was done using the clone and smudge tool. I darkned the outlines of the eyes and opened them up a little as she is squinting a little and got rid of the frown caused by squinting. I also darned some of the distracting background. It's not exactly true to the original but I tried.
Comments appreciated.
I selected and darkened the hair and adjusted the curves.

I don't think Tess has ever looked better. Every inch looks just great! Very well done.

Thank you very much Doug.
It's nice to get some feedback from people who do restoration themselves.
I just joined this site and still finding my way around but it looks like a great
place to learn and practice.
I tried to remove the squint without changing the character of Tess.
Hopefully I did that. It is a huge picture and not easy to work with. My software
was freezing up a lot while working on this....for the face I cropped it to a workable size and reinserted it. Made things a lot easier.
