As you can see I'm still experimenting with getting "brush stroke" effects with my limited artistic skills.

The base image was duplicated and Dry Brush, Fresco and Watercolor filters applied.

The background was duplicated again and the Glowing Edges filter applied; inverted the results and desaturated. Used levels to force out noise and midtones, leaving most of the major outlines. Changed blend to Multiply to allow underlying layer to show.

Added Hue/Saturation adjustment layers set to colorize and used layer masks to selectively tweak colors and saturation on various components.

Used a painterly brush (color=white) to apply the "brush strokes" in the background via inverted Hue/Sat adjustment layer; applied Unsharp Mask to highlight bristle marks.

A threat to Cezanne? No. Fun and educational? Yep!

Danny, this is really great Very smart idea on your part to use a complement color for the background. It really makes the fruit stand out. VERY creative!!!!

Looks like your experimentation is paying off Danny, the brush strokes look real good. Nice color choice also. Well done.

A daring approach, I like it very much.
