I started by using auto contrast and levels. Desaturated and copied the eyes from a pic of my collie to the image. Colorized by using layers with either overlay or color blending modes. Used a gradient and lighting effect for the wall.

Beautiful restore. Like especially your rugs, wall and nice job eliminating the fade halo. Colours look great too.

Thank you Doug. I love dogs so I had a lot of fun trying to restore this picture. One thing I didn't mention in my description is that I added a slight texture to the wall.
