Spent alot of time just trying to figure out what was what in this one, and I'm not too sure I guessed right. Did a basic levels so I could see better. Started cloning on the family and the bg. Straightened the photo, and tried to rebuild the statue/monument?(and dad's shoe). Not sure about the big block on the right. Applied usm to whole pic, then again to just the family and right side of monument. Softened skin with guassian blur painted on a mask. Touched-up blotchy areas with burn and dodge. Did a final levels.
re-submitted with a slightly happier mom, then not so happy, then just a bit happier.

Excellent work. The only way to improve this would be if you had been there when it was taken, and had kept a copy .
