Helena Member Registered: August 2002 Location: sunny Victoria, BC, Canada Posts: 30 users gallery	This was a fun one. I'd want to live here now...but my light display wouldn't be quite this tacky! First I used the clone tool to fix up the walls. Added a roof (simple shape filled with black and a couple of other colours for depth). Then I filled a layer with black and used an overlay blending mode of "soft light" to darken everything. I did a hue/saturation change on the sky to darken it a bit more...and I think I did some burn darkening with a soft brush on the trees and lawn as well. Then I took various pictures of christmas lights and used them to decorate the house. I had to clone the icicle lights and the wreath under the white angels. The windows were filled with light and made into divided lights (with crosspieces). I cloned the windows to add symmetry to the house. A lot of the Christmas lights came from pictures that were mostly black. This made it easy since I could just select roughly around them, cut, and paste into my file. With a blending mode of lighten - all I was left with were the lights! The star was a photoshop brush. That's it.

HA - i just noticed there is no snow on the ground. I think I can be excused because i live in Victoria, British Columbia and we usually don't HAVE snow at Christmas. So this is normal for me. Sorry if it looks a bit weird to you people who actually own snowshovels.

Just kidding. You have done a very nice, very festive job. It almost looks good enough to eat...as in gingerbread house.

When my grandchildren, here in Western Australia, go to look at homes locally all decked out for Xmas, there's never any snow so this looks perfectly natural to moi. I appreciate the effort you put into this, so very well done, especially your lighting effects inside and out.

An excellent piece of work.
We here at Belmont North just a little drive from from Sydney Australia, have a large home named 'Gracelands' (modelled after you know who's home)
It is always bedecked with ligths and busloads of tourists visit it yearly.
Ad we too have no snow!!

Thanks knation03. Funny how when Christmas comes around we look at these old challenges again. Although I was smug when I posted it, saying that we didn't have snow where I live, I have to eat my words this year!
I'm looking out the window at 10 inches of snow. Lights DO look prettier with snow though.
