Wow! This is a rich saturated restoration Somtim,
The strong color helps the violin stand out from the curtain.
Great job on the upholstery at the top of the chair.
I think it was a good idea to build up the chairs seat.
The seat looked unusually low in the original.
Good reconstruction work on the damaged lower section.
But Somtim the tennis shoes!
I just can’t see the young lady posing for this photo in tennis shoes.
But who knows? The damage was so bad I couldn’t be certain
where her feet were.

Thanks Matt for your comments. This is all all very much a learning process for me as I have never really used Photoshop in this capacity. I am in awe of the ability Photoshop has. I have used it for many things but never restoration. My use of color and contrast is still a bit heavy handed but I am learning. And loving it.
Funny thing about the tennis shoes, as I worked on the top half I kept visualizing the how the feet and shoes would work. I don't know about anyone else who does this, but it seems like you actually get to know the people trapped in the photos! She seemed like a proper young lady with her posture and violin. Her eyes though, they had an edge and determination (Heck, the kid crawling around on the chair didn't even phase her playing) That will and free spirit had to be let out somehow. If I could have pulled it off I would have had her barefoot.
Anyways, thanks for the kind words.

Very nice job on a tough restoration. I like the floor thats a nice touch. As for the tennis shoes that does add a touch of subtle humor to the photo. Like she was in the back yard playing but had to run in the house and change clothes for the photo. The right side of the chair in the foreground is warped out a tad. No big deal. The saturation of the photo is very pleasing.

Overall, your restoration is good. The tennis shoes are a little shocking, but girls did wear them with skirts in the late 50s -- early 60s, which I guessed was the time period the photo was taken. You did an excellent job on the perspective. That was the worst part for me.
I totally agree with your observation of her reaction to the kid crawling over her while she's playing the violin.

Thanks Lorraine and philbach. I am thankful for your feedback. The resources and personal feedback from this sight are amazing and I am spending more time lately in Photoshop and having more fun than should be allowed from a single App.
