Aimed for a way less than perfect antique look.
Used channel mixer to change to grayscale and eliminate the blue channel. Then used a filter to eliminate noise. I then used history brush in softlight with 30% opacity to paint back detail in the baby only and the hand.
Created a new layer and cloned a lot, with the “use all layers” box checked.
Added a 50% grey layer and painted with black and white for highlights and shadows at 7% opacity.
Used quick mask to put baby on own layer and then blurred original background. Slightly blurred baby.
Added noise and a sepia colored layer at low opacity for sepia effect. Then “framed” to
