Wanda Schwind Junior Member Registered: January 2002 Location: Ohio users gallery	When looking at this challenge I thought it needed more added to the composition. After viewing Cezanne's work I tried to simulate his technique. I've decided I'm not too good at this! I also learned that the Great Masters in painting still life adopted the practice of having the light source coming from the top left. The only reason given was they thought it looked more natural. Painter Classic The first thing I did was Clone-flip horizontal to get the light source coming from the left. I had a picture of a still life I really liked, so using a real pencil and paper I roughly sketched it. Thought it needed more so I sketched in a bottle and more grapes - then scanned it. Copied and pasted on top of PhotoArt #6. Erased until I had the sketch properly positioned. I rather liked the dark background. I then selected the peach and pear and positioned them on the sketch - duplicated the pear. I then began to paint using different brushes throughout. Starting with the background and coming forward. When painting the fruit and bottle I painted in with the lightest color first and gradually built up to the midtones and shading, leaving the detail and highlights for last. I realized when I was almost done I should have changed the paper color of the sketch to something other than white. It would have been much easier to match the original fruit which already had color. Oh, well that's something I learned from this challenge. You would never guess I REALLY like the looks of grapes in a still life, probably overdone, but can you over do grapes(smile) Is it Cezanne - probably not. The only thing Cezanne is the signature - it's a Cezanne Font (smile) Wanda

Don't think I will extend myself that much anymore. Yeah, I love grapes in a still life, can't really say why, maybe it's the end product that ends up in the bottle LOL Thanks again!!

Awesome, Lorraine! I wish I had a tenth of your skill with Painter. Sigh, it still scares me so much I am afraid to open it in order to practice--true! I am afraid of a software program!

Please tell me, how long have you been using Painter? And have you done much regular painting (sans computer) in the past?

You realy rise to he occasion! Gee, I'm trying to decide how to tackle thr fruit and you are broadening the challenge. The grapes are especially complementary.
