Using Photoshop, made a level adjustment to original photo.

I tried to do some research on different types of military camouflage, and thought that "woodland camouflage" was the closest to this photo.

Found photos of woodland camouflage uniforms on the internet. Copied and pasted from those to create the two uniforms and caps.

Used the woman's eyes, parts of her hair, nose and facial lines from the photo supplied. Transformed and adjusted hue/saturation, levels, etc. to blend those parts into photo.

Lightened the shadow over the man's eyes by selecting that area, coping to new layer, screen blend mode. Lowered the layer opacity. Merged that down and dodged and burned the eyes to bring them out more.

Created the shadow over the woman's eyes by using a multiply blend mode layer and painting dark brown on that layer. Adjusted the opacity of the layer.

Did numerous copy/paste selections to restore the background, facial features and his hands.

Selected the dark shadows on the clothing from the original photo. Copied those selections to separate layers, multiply blend modes (varying opacities). Place the layers above the restored layer and applied gaussian blur to the selections to create the folds in the clothing.

The rest consisted of cloning, blurring, burning, and smudging areas to eliminate spots and blend the restored areas.

Copied all layers merged to create final. Duplicated final layer and applied an auto level adjustment. Lowered the opacity of the auto level layer slightly. Copied final layers merged.

Fine work on this one Lorraine,
The woman's face looks great. Eyes clear and sharp and good skin tone. It never occurred to me to use more than just the eyes from the second photo. Duh!

Outstanding job on the uniforms.
Copy and past from another photo, sounds easy.
But it is extremely difficult to size, add creases and blend as convincingly as you have here.
Like the way you have done the dark area around her mid-riff.

Thanks so much, Matt.

Actually, I had given up on this several times. Then you posted your version, and that inspired me to continue the extremely tedious work on this restoration.

Thanks again.
