First I cleaned up the image and cropped it so that the composition was more like a Mary Cassatt. Then I used levels and hue/saturation to adjust colors. I also used one of the Cassatt images from the research link to do a color match.
I used Corel Painter to apply oil brush strokes, and then took it back to PS to add a texture fill of more brush strokes. I probably have left some steps out. I sometimes forget what I do.

Very nice Cathy. Really looks like a oil painting. One day I'll have Corel Painter too (with touchscreen Wacom; why paint on a pad when you can paint on the screen itself). Then everyone better watch out.

Thanks everyone. Painter is a little difficult to use, but the latest verison (9) is a little closer to PS in regards to tools. It does have a real nice feature called cloning, which is what I used to simulate oil brush strokes in my image.
