I had to leave the area to run an errand for my Dad, so I can not give you the exact steps, but here goes. I duplicated the layers and used PS's edge detect and inverted colors. I saved the PSD file and opened the file up in GIMP. I set the top layer to saturation and adjusted the colors down to taste. I then flattened and duplicated the layers. I ran toadies Metalwork filter set the layer property to value and adjusted the opacity to taste. I flattened all layers and duplicated the layers. I then Unplugged colors saturation filter to really bring out the colors. I adjusted down to taste and flattened all layers. I then duplicated the layer and ran Unplugged colors Color shifter filter and then ran Toadies Crazy Color Waves filter. I then adjusted the opacity down to taste and flattened all layers. I ran my vector process (which tends to smooth the edges out and saturate the colors) and then exported the file as a bitmap and opened it up in PS. I ran Paint Engine's Bad Chalk filter and then cleaned the edges. Done. Note that Paint Engine had a Leroy setup default, but I did not like the edgyness to this filter. Hope you all like the end result.

Nice artistic approach. I hope this isn't a dumb question but what are Paint Engine and Toadies?

Hey cazubi,

I'm glad you liked the effect. Anyway, Toadies is a set of filters (I promised myself I wouldn't link again, but here goes) located here.

Paint Engine is a plugin and can be found here.

Thanks...I'm out of luck with these plug-ins because I use a Mac.

Hey Cathy,

If you have a way of creating a metallic rendering, that's basically what Toadies Metalworks filter does. The Crazy Color waves, on the other hand, would be hard to describe. The reason I had to rotate the colors is I get better results with Crazy Color waves when I do so (been doing this this way for months now every time I use Crazy Color waves).

Thanks Timbo. Even learned more tricks since I did this one, but I won't do another of it. Need some more art challenges here (hint. hint.).
