There seems to be a fine colorful photo hiding behind
the faded colors of the original.
I hate it when the photographer cuts off the feet of the main subjects.
There was a hell of a lot more cloning and repairing than I anticipated.
Auto-Levels gave a clue to the original colors.
Hawaii is a colorful place so I came in hard with strong colors.
I used Quick Mask to make selections and fine tuned colored areas.
I had to sharpen twice during this restoration.
What happened to the guy sitting back to us in the lower left of the photo?
He finished his lunch and left.
Then someone from the cafeteria put a pot plant in his place.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Great job Matt! Very good clean up in the background and I love the colors. I would hate to be replaced by a potted plant but in this case it definitely works.

Not just a restoration - more like a renovation. Lots of colourful little details and great clean-up and definition. Really good Matt! And I knew you'd change the light bulb so I didn't bother.

Thanks Margaret, Mark and Doug,
I'm having second thoughts about replacing that guy with a pot plant.
He wasn't that much of a distraction. I should have left him in.

Thanks for the comments Cathy and ckc,
The original looked awful. I wasn't sure how it would turn out.
I was happy when a colorful and fine photo of the group appeared.
I enjoyed working on this photo.

Fine job. Very brilliant and sharp, but still natural. I don't mind that you replaced the guy with the plant, I think it worked well. :teeth:
