Oops - didn't include my comments.

Grandpa Benny must have been an interesting guy. This photo was pretty challenging. I had to mask multiple different areas which becomes time consuming. Using Photoshop 6.0, the steps I took are:

1. Removed the scratches and the moire pattern with the cloning tool.
2. For the car:
a. Applied the dust and scratches filter.
b. Did a gaussion blur.
c. Did a motion blur for the chrome.
d. Intensified the contrast to bring out the shine.
e. Added noise.
f. Applied a paint daubs fileter.

3. For Benny:
a. Applied the dust and scratches filter.
b. In a few areas, I used the smudge tool.
c. Drew in the eyes using the cloning tool. I clone a dark or light area at 10 – 80% which allows the cloning tool to be used as a paintbrush.
d. Added noise.
c. Applied theTexture-grain-enlarged filter.

I wasn’t able to figure out what those white forms in the rear left are. The vertical forms are either giant pita breads or mummies. The big round white form is probably a.giant salad tortilla shell. The repair shop is likely for pastry equipment.

You have put some very good work into it, came out visually strong, but it just does not look like a photo anymore, more like a graphic for an advert.

Very nice job Barbie, and welcome to the site. Exceptionally clean image. Excellent tones, but I have to agree with Nick when he said it lost part of the photographic look. Regardless, it's very strong visually.

Yes, it does seem to have turned into a graphic, but it is still beautiful. And the moire was so difficult to deal with that there weren't a lot of acceptable other options. I think you did an excellent job...

Very neat and clean looking. I especially like the way the car looks...it was a very difficult challenge. I agree with the rest, it doesn't look like a photo anymore, but it does look pretty neat!

Really neat approach. It looks like a poster illustration. I like the noise texture added in to the background.

I agree you are an artist. You have the ability to redraw. Yes it does not look totally like a photo, but it is real close. If I were a customer and that was my uncle, I would jump for joy and that is what this is all about. Awsome job.

Pita bread or mummies--LOL--I think that must be it.

This looks phenomenal. I'd love to know, in more detail, how you got rid of the vertical streaks.

art or restoration. Does it matter at this point? It is a great looking final job. I am embarassed to show what I managed to do with it, other than spend time on it. You deserved to sign your name to it.
