Create a fill layer set to the following: Red=93h, Green=72h, and Blue set to 00h. Move this fill layer to the third (next to last) layer position. Set the top layer to Value, set the second layer to Grain Merge and the opacity of this layer to 50%. Set the third layer (fill color layer) to Multiply and the opacity of this layer to 50%. Done.

Showing my ignorance here, but I was not entirely sure what 'tonal' changes included so stuck with dodge and burn....Nice pic though

I was confused as well; so I assumed that we could do anything but use filters, so I just used layer properties and blends.

Heck of job, I couldn't have even come that close, but I spent a life time walking that trail. In fact I'm checking my old photos to see if I don't have it. Probably not, now that I look at it, it has to be in the central coastal region, I was below Ho city and in the french quarter of can tho. damn it looks good.

Thanks again for the comments. I will admit, though this solution takes seconds to do, I actually, as I recalled, played around for quite some time to come up with it. So start playing already Ernie. You won't regret it. Though I like using GIMP (been using this for several years), I do have CS2 as well. Never picked up a book (but would have saved me a lot of time if I did), but learned a heck of a lot from this forum and from other ones.
